I didn’t have a name for it. It was late, like always. Too many tabs open. Too many ideas spinning around. Design, dev, security, visuals, identity… It felt like I was switching lanes, but really — everything was pointing to the same place. A space that didn’t exist yet, but needed to. That’s how Nynerdly Visuals started. A name I made up — but one that made sense.
There’s “nerd”, obviously. But not in the way people usually picture it. Not someone cut off from the world, stuck in a niche. To me, nerds are the ones who care. Who stay up tweaking pixels. Who talk about the same idea ten different ways. Who don’t let go until it feels just right. They’re not shut off — they just haven’t found their people yet. Their pair. Their public. Their passion crew. That’s who I build for.
Then there’s the “Ny” — short for Not Yours. But not in the selfish way. More like: once something hits the right people, it’s not just yours anymore. It becomes a we. A collaboration. A shared feeling between you and the ones who connect to it.
And “ly” — that one came last. Almost like an afterthought, but it ended up being the heart of it. “Ly” as in loyally. Because when you care that much — about craft, people, pixels, feelings — you can’t just create casually. You do it loyally. To the story. To the process. To the ones who will feel it on the other side. And yeah — maybe even “Yours.” Because once it’s out there, once someone connects with it, it’s no longer mine. It’s yours to feel. Yours to interpret. Yours to keep.
And the last piece — Visuals. Because no matter the medium — whether it’s brand identity, web, UX, design systems, or motion — I tell stories through visuals. It’s how I process the world. How I give shape to feelings, and form to intentions. It’s not just what I do — it’s how I connect.
So no, it wasn’t a strategy. It was three fragments that slowly became something more.
Not Yours. Nerd. Loyally. Nynerdly.
And because everything I build speaks through visuals — Nynerdly Visuals. A name that holds space for curiosity, care, and connection. For the ones who stay up too for the right reasons.
